DROPPING DIMES

ORANGE JERSEY GANG

“OG OG Drop Dimes. That's what we break on every day. OG goes to orange gang because we wear orange jerseys, so that’s our gang. We’re OG OG drop dimes. That’s what we aim to do every time we step on the field. Dropping dimes in tight coverages and all of that.” - Quarterback Bryce Perkins

THE HIGHLIGHTS

ESCAPE ARTIST

“Every time I escape, especially up the middle, I try to look left and right to see where the holes are and where there are less defenders where I can escape to.” – Bryce Perkins

“It’s great watching him play. That’s what you want, especially in a college quarterback. Being able to create plays with his feet and extend plays. It doesn’t get any better than that. It’s pretty nice watching someone who can do that.” - Safety (and former quarterback) De'Vante Cross on Perkins

NIGHT & DAY

“That game experience was huge for him and our team. I think a lot of players look to him with a lot of confidence because they have seen him in the fire and they’ve seen him perform really well. This spring is night and day. He was just lost and swimming out here a year ago trying to figure out what college football is like and now it’s no big deal. You don’t hesitate to throw him in there at any time no matter what we’re doing because he knows it and he can execute it and play well for us.” - Jason Beck on Brennan Armstrong

“He’s really cerebral and he’s able to communicate really well, which is what I think is one of his strongest traits. He can take what he has in his head, and what he knows, and transfer it to us on a very clear but thorough basis. I think we all really appreciate and benefit from it.” – Lindell Stone on quarterbacks coach Jason Beck.

CONSISTENCY

“For the most part, we've worked on pushing the ball down field consistently. Last year we had underneath throws with Olamide (Zaccheaus), but I think you can really tell a huge improvement with just the deep throws. I think we’ve had a lot of big plays. We’re working with a lot of new receivers and new running backs and getting consistent where we can drive the ball down the field. We have to be able to do the consistent plays on every drive.” - Lindell Stone

LEADERSHIP

“Last year was very exploratory, just kind of trying to discover what he’s really good at and what we should do with him. Now we have a much better understanding of his strengths and he understands the system so much better. Now it’s just getting into the details and fine-tuning and high execution and giving him more responsibility in the offense and more freedom to get in the best place for us.” - Jason Beck on Bryce Perkins

“As a leader, he gets the guys going. He has a nice swagger to him that keeps the guys focused on what they have to do. And he brings some enjoyable moments too, so I think the guys really like to see what he has to do every day.” - Brennan Armstrong on Bryce Perkins

THE LISTENER

“As a teacher, he lets us talk about what we see and then he helps us figure out what is actually happening. Once we see something we can tell him how we view it and then he sees how we view it. Then he can teach us the right direction. He doesn’t put pressure on us to see things in one way.” - Brennan Armstrong on quarterbacks coach Jason Beck.

“They show up every day. Great attitudes. Fun personalities. They work hard and they come out every day to compete. They are passionate about playing and want to win in everything they do. You don’t have to motivate them because they are always ready to work, ready to learn, ready to get better and compete. So that’s a lot of fun to be around.” – Jason Beck on the UVA quarterbacks.

SECRET SURPRISE

The Seven Society, a UVA secret society focused on philanthropy and recognizing achievements at the University, had a surprise for the Cavaliers when they arrived at the Welsh Indoor Facility for practice. The players received small gifts and the program was presented a bronze helmet recognizing the achievements made under head coach Bronco Mendenhall and for the victory in the Belk Bowl.
